There maybe a valid explanation for Mariah Carey’s absence of equilibrium and eyebrow-raising behavior as of late — the singer is incubating a new life.
Media reports the record-breaking soul singer and wife of actor Nick Cannon definitely appeared to be pregnant when she finally took the stage at a less than full Civic Center in Atlanta. The star began the performance more than 90 minutes after her scheduled start time to belt out renditions of her classic tunes.
Carey has not been shy about wanting to have children since hitching up with Cannon. And based on photos at the Golden Globe Awards and her concert performance, Mariah appears to be nursing the beginnings of a baby bump, or she is rocking a small beer gut.
Carey, who turns 40 in March, didn’t put a lid on the chatter blazing across the country about her impending motherhood when she appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show recently. First, Carey refused to drink the champagne DeGeneres offered in a toast, saying “It’s just fattening. That’s just champagne. You can’t have it on TV. It’s just too early for me. I only drink after 3 p.m.”
Secondly, Carey did not deny she was pregnant when DeGeneres pressed for a straight answer, only quipping, “I didn’t say that. No, no, no … We will let you know when we’re going to have a family.” –terry shropshire
