The announcement of next season’s departure of popular American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, has caused a few unlikely candidates to rear their heads. Singer-songwriter La Toya Jackson is hoping to be the next judge on the show, filling the shoes of the snarky fan-favorite. The 53-year-old Jackson sibling says she “would jump at the chance” to take the gig.
According to reports, the former Playgirl centerfold had already been angling for a spot guest judging on the show after meeting Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe at a party in Kathy Hilton’s Bel Air home. Now, its being reported that she’s interested in a bigger role. “I would love to be a judge on American Idol,” she said. “I would love to have a chance for the public to get to know the real me. I would be thrilled.”
A very, very long shot, but it stands to reason that if Ellen can do it, she can, too. At least she is a singer … among other things. –gerald radford
