In a written statement, Rep. King said, “This sounds to me like open borders advocates exercising the Rahm Emanuel axiom: ‘Never let a crisis go to waste,’ illegal immigrants from Haiti have no reason to fear deportation, but if they are deported, Haiti is in great need of relief workers and many of them could be a big help to their fellow Haitians.”
If Haitian immigrants were to be deported, they would be in the same position as their countrymen: desperately seeking food, water, shelter and the basic necessities of life. King’s insensitive remarks are another expample of the callous inhumanity that is ingrained in some Americans. –amir shaw
