Sheree Whitfield Failed at Fashion, Can She Succeed at Acting?

Sheree Whitfield, the lightning rod of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” is sure to light up the stage in her acting debut for Heaven I Need a Hug in Garland, Texas, this month. We qualify the phrase “acting debut” since numerous reports suggest that many scenes in the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality show have been dramatized or re-shot at the request of Bravo TV execs in order to reach a pre-determined drama quotient.

The Kendrick D. Young-directed play runs from Jan. 19–24 at the Granville Art Center in Garland, a northeast suburb of Dallas. Whitfield, who is the ex-wife of former NFL star Bob Whitfield and the mother of their two children, will play the role of Lisa opposite Dave Hollister, a popular soul crooner.

The title of the play, Heaven I Need a Hug, is also thick with irony. Many people thought that Whitfield, known for her strikingly sharp features and even pointier personality, needed some down-home hugs after suffering  deep emotional wounds during the first two seasons of “Real Housewives.”

Whitfield lost badly in her quest to collect seven figures from her ex in a divorce settlement. She has reportedly been kicked out of her ex-husband’s home and had to be put up in a Bravo TV-financed mansion for season two. And Sheree was roasted in a blistering satellite radio station interview that Bob gave, claiming that he paid to have her nose, breast and butt surgically enhanced and he had in his possession a collection of sex videotapes of the two of them. Moreover, fans are still awaiting word of the debut of her much-ballyhooed fashion line, She by Sheree. –terry shropshire
