Diddy Buys New $360K Maybach for Son; Was That the Right Move?

diddy and justin

Sean “Diddy” Combs just went all out, to say it lightly, for his son, Justin’s, 16th birthday. At his sweet 16 birthday party … no, too simple, at his sweet 16 birthday GALA, young Justin was presented with a $360K Maybach, complete with a big red bow on top — not to mention the personal chauffeur that was part of the deal. Money is no object to the hip-hop mogul, but was a gift of that caliber too much for a child — who reportedly doesn’t even have a driver’s license?

Being a Combs has probably made receiving expensive gifts a common occurrence, but I would think that even for someone in a household as wealthy as Diddy’s it would be a little overwhelming. Receiving a Maybach more than likely topped anything the young fella has ever received, leaving only the question, “where do I go from here?” The sad thing is a child’s developing mind wouldn’t even realize that.

maybachPossibly in the name of being a generous father, but more than likely just to satisfy his own ego, Diddy just may have snatched hard work and determination right out from under his son’s feet.  What was supposed to be a rite of passage — though ordinarily not even celebrated in that way by young males — just slammed a critical door in the privileged young man’s face.

On top of undermining Justin’s concept of reaping rewards for hard work, unless he’s been slaving away since birth to be rewarded with such an extravagant gift, his perception of suffering has to have been severely distorted by the frivolous act. Think about it, Haitians are in such need it’s almost unfathomable, yet $360K has just been dropped at his feet just because he advanced a year in age. Diddy, methinks this foolishness precludes an “a” from ever replacing the “i’” in your moniker, because a responsible daddy you simply aren’t … at least not with this ill-advised move.

The argument could be made that “it’s Diddy’s money” and he can do with it whatever he pleases, and that’s true, but any thinking individual should take pause at the now epidemic undoing of our youth by being blinded by “bling” without knowing what it means to put in the sweat to make it happen. I’m not against wealth by any means, but wealth without the lessons learned can only create greedy little monsters with entitlement issues. Makes it very hard to believe “the children are our future.” –gerald radford
