New GOP Sen. Scott Brown Challenges Pres. Obama to Basketball Showdown

alt

Scott Brown, the newly elected Republican senator, is throwing yet another gauntlet down at President Obama’s feet. When Brown was elected to the late Sen. Edward Kennedy’s vacant Senate seat on Jan. 19, he turned the world of politics on its ear. He, in effect, became the “center” for team Republicans, with the power to block any shots that team Democrats posts up. Now, he’s taking that concept a step further.

Brown is going around town boasting about his ability to handle Obama on the basketball court. He told Jay Leno Thursday that he challenged the Democratic president to a two-on-two showdown when they talked after his upset victory on election night. He says he’d team up with his daughter, who plays guard at Boston College.

The senator regards basketball as one of his secret weapons; his skills helped him win college admission. It’s not all ego for the new hire, though, because he predicted that the match would be tough but added, “I think we’d have the upper hand.”

He revealed the challenge in a brief appearance on Leno’s show via satellite hookup from Newton, Mass.

All that’s left for President Obama to do now is choose a teammate. Maybe Hillary has skills …  Don’t you wish politics were really that lighthearted? –gerald radford
