Now that the nation has reaffixed its lower jaw after it dropped when the NAACP nominated the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” for an Image Award …
Lisa Wu Hartwell, long considered the most enterprising of the cast members of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” says Sergio Hudson is making her dress for the live show on Feb. 26 in Los Angeles.
“We were honored. We thought it was a great honor to be recognized by the NAACP,” Hartwell says. “But of course there were mixed responses for everyone, of course. Our show is about controversy, of course. And so people were like ‘well, wait a minute? Why do you deserve it?’ “
Mixed response? It was more like a blizzard of opposition.
Hartwell says she wasn’t surprised by the nomination that seems to have shocked most of black America. But she says there are reasons they deserve the nod.
“Well, there’s a lot of positivity on the show as well. We film 12 to 18 hours a day. And so you might see five minutes of that and see the drama part of it and say ‘hey, they are all about drama.’ But it’s a little bit more than that. And everybody is watching the show, and we’re very, very grateful. We’re just really honored,” she says.
As a seasoned actress, screenwriter and producer, the famously fit Hartwell is going to display her well-known martial arts expertise in a yet-to-be titled full-length feature film. She is also going to appear in Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns” on TBS on Feb. 24, playing a trainer.
Speaking of acting, Sheree Whitfield made her acting debut on stage last month in Heaven I Need a Hug in suburban Dallas. And from what we learned in subsequent Twitter feedbacks, the volcanic vixen might need more than a few hugs after the brutal reviews of her suspect acting came gushing out afterward.
Hartwell confirms that there will be a new addition to the third season of “RHOA.” She is as anxious as fans of the Bravo TV show as to which it will be. “As we get closer, of course they’ll ask us how do we feel about the person. And I’ll let you know what I think about her, too,” Hartwell said.
And yes, Kim Zolziak is actually following through with starting up her wig line, Kim Z Locs, according to her collaborator and BFF, Derek J, owner of the luxurious and exclusive J Spot Salon. Unlike Zolciak’s cast mate, whose fashion line was unveiled to much pomp and circumstance but has yet to produce a single stitch of clothing, Derek J says Zolciak’s wig line will definitely be out in 2010.
“We’re in the process of getting that together finding manufacturers. She knows what she likes and I know how to make what she likes. It’s there, but she’s very picky. So it’s about finding the right quality about what she wants,” Derek says.
