President Obama to Deliver Commencement Address at HBCU Hampton University

altThe White House has confirmed that President Barack Obama has agreed to be the keynote speaker at Hampton University’s 140th graduation commencement in May.

Dr. William Harvey could not contain his excitement that the first African American Commander in-Chief will make his first appearance at a Historically Black College and University in Hampton, Va.

“We are honored that President Obama has accepted Hampton’s invitation to speak to our 2010 graduates during our commencement exercises. His commitment to leadership, education and service is parallel to Hampton’s mission from our beginning in 1868,” Harvey says in a statement to students.

“He is an inspiration for our students to make the world a better place by becoming the very best leaders, educators, doctors, lawyers, financial analysts and scientists that they can be,” the school president added.
