The buffoonery-filled career of Stepin Fetchit look-a-like Flavor Flav continues uninterrupted, playing out in a New York courtroom after he allegedly failed to make payments to his baby’s momma.
The hype-man of the legendary, socially conscious group Public Enemy, born William Drayton Jr., has to face the judge and provide an explanation as to why he owes over $63,000 in late child support payments to the mother of three of his children.
The Albany (N.Y.) County Child Support Collection Division says Mary Parker had an agreement in place with Flavor Flav until the 2008 birth of another child to the 51-year-old rapper.
According to the New York Post, Parker was successfully awarded an additional weekly payment of $117 on top of the $832.72 she was already receiving, plus the court-ordered mandate that Flav pay for private school tuition dating back to the 2008 payment adjustment.
Drayton, the star of the wildly popular VH-1 reality shows, “Flavor of Love” and “Surreal Life,” told the Post that “the judgement is recent as I was just made aware of it. I’ll certainly be addressing it. However, I’ve made payments on my children’s tuition and have made direct payment to the mother outside the court order.”
Flavor Flav’s deadbeat status has been substantiated by another woman with whom he had three children, Karen Ross-Fortunate, who said Flav did not support her children either, especially her eldest son’s college tuition. Flav has seven children altogether. –terry shropshire
