The e-mail he forwarded comparing Michelle Obama to a monkey has sparked widespread curiosity, which has taken an an equally nasty turn. Now, when the name “Michelle Obama” is entered into the google search field, the suggested findings are as follows:
Google is a widely used search tool, the most used, in fact, and it’s disturbing that the first lady’s young daughters could search and find such references in relation to their mother, let alone other young African American girls that have fragile self-images. Of course, Google only suggests search results based on the what the masses are searching for, but that doesn’t lessen the impact.
Some may feel that society has lost the ability to kid around, but when it’s gone too far, it’s simply gone too far. –gerald radford
