The New York Times is reporting that “a host of sources close to” now-leaving White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers say that she’s feeling slighted by President Obama and his administration. She’s reportedly upset because they didn’t spring to her defense over the Salahi-state-dinner-crashing flap.
“As she put it, ‘They never lifted a finger to help me set the record straight,’ ” says one associate.
Rogers was already under the administration’s watchful eye due to what was deemed an ill-advised decision she made. Rogers appeared in a magazine photo shoot wearing a $3,495 dress with $110,000 earrings, which given the recession, put the Obama camp in a precarious PR position.
David Axelrod also took issue with her talk about the “Obama brand,” telling her, “The president is a person, not a product.” Immediately afterward, Michelle Obama cancelled Rogers’ appearance at an MTV dinner, and assigned her chief of staff to monitor future ones, which annoyed her.
