Domestic Violence Preceded Tiger Woods’ Car Crash, EMTs and Police Believe

Perhaps we finally have an explanation to supplant Tiger Woods’ ludicrous account of that slow speed car crash on Thanksgiving weekend: domestic violence.

Elin Woods was denied the opportunity to ride with her husband to the hospital because ambulance workers believed a domestic violence situation preceded Tiger Woods’ smashing his Cadillac Escalade into a fire hydrant and tree, hospital and police records show.

Thus far, no credible explanation has been presented that would explain why Woods would dash out of his house after 2 a.m. on a holiday weekend, meander all over the road inside his complex, then play bumper cars with his neighbor’s tree and fire hydrant.

The Orlando Sentinel procured the records of the event in question after filing a request under the Freedom of Information Act. The report says Woods bounced off the curb, ran through some shrubs then finally came to rest in his neighbor’s yard. The state highway patrol tried to obtain medical records from that accident to determine whether Woods was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but the hospital denied police officials the requested information, demanding a warrant in exchange for the records.

The state’s attorney office declined to pursue a warrant, citing lack of probable cause or evidence that a crime had been committed. But all parties involved have a hard time believing that a heavily medicated Woods would voluntarily get behind the wheel of his SUV unless something drastic took place inside the home prior to the accident.

In any case, Woods angrily berated the media for pursuing theories of what precipitated the late night, barefoot romp into the black expanse. “Elin never hit me that night or any other night. there has never been an episode of domestic violence in our marriage, ever,” Woods said at that staged press conference last month.

Unless any other evidence is unearthed, which appears unlikely, Woods’ words will be the final ones about the mysterious events leading up to the crash. –terry shropshire
