Oprah Winfrey will grace the city of Philly with her presence at the end of the month to stand trial against ex-headmistress, Nomvuyo Mzamane, of her South African all-girls school. A federal judge ordered Winfrey to appear in court on the grounds that there is sufficient evidence to insist on her presence. She’d hoped that the charges would be dismissed.
Mzamane was dismissed from her position as headmistress of the celebrated new school when she was charged with abusing the students. The incident made news headlines around the world, with Winfrey making statements expressing her disgust to various media outlets.
Nomvuyo claims that the charges are faulty and occurred because the talk show host defamed her during a press conference back in 2007.
