When Alabama native Yelawolf used to skateboard through the streets of Atlanta many years ago, he never imagined that his music would capture the masses in ATL’s underground music scene, but that’s exactly what happened. –seneca doss
So you’re signed to Kawan ‘KP’ Prather’s label, Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment. How did KP find you?
In ‘07 my manager, Jeremy ‘J Dot’ Jones, took me down to the Atlantis Music conference and we met Courtney ‘Bear’ Sills, who later [became] my manager along with J Dot. Bear told KP about me. At the time KP was in New York, but he flew down to hear me perform at this rehearsal hall, liked what he heard, and signed me to Ghet-O-Vision that night.
Your growth online has increased vastly in a short period of time. What formula are you using to get the online crowd talking?
I wouldn’t say it’s a formula or trick, I would say it’s just a combination of my team working hard to let people know that I have something say. I also appreciate the fans for getting my latest mixtape, Trunk Muzik. They pushed my name out there and gave a reason for the Internet listen.
What’s next for you in 2010?
I’m about to go down to SXSW. After we get done that, I’m headed out on tour with Wiz Khalifa.
