Beyoncé is hiding her pregnancy by using the excuse she wants to take the next several months off from recording and performing, according to several media outlets.
The Huffington Post, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the New York Post all quote MediaTakeout.com, who cites a “rock solid” source that states that the pop goddess is finally expecting.
The NY Post in particular contacted the spokespeople for both Beyoncé and rap impresario Jay-Z to inquire about the accuracy of the reports. Alan Nierob, Beyoncé ’s publicist flatly refused to discuss the matter.
“No comment,” Nierob said. “We don’t respond to private matter inquiries.”
The Post was unable to get a response from Jay-Z’s camp.
Some skeptics would assume that the media is reaching. Keep in mind that soul singer Keyshia Cole and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson adopted this same tactic when questions soared into Cleveland about whether she was pregnant. The delivery of her first child earlier this month answered that question unequivocally. Pop princess Mariah Carey has also refused to entertain questions about her impending motherhood with actor-rapper Nick Cannon, serving only to fuel media speculation.
Beyoncé is “doing fine and resting [for now],” claims media takeout.com. The blog also says Jay-Z “is extremely happy to be having his first child with Bey.”
Beyoncé and Jay-Z started dating after their collaboration on several projects in 2002. They were married in a tented rooftop ceremony two years ago, but have maintained discretion about discussing their union until Beyoncé said the word “husband” when addressing Jay-Z at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles in February. She didn’t even sport a wedding ring until four months after their wedding when she flossed a shiny rock at the Fashion Rocks concert at Fashion Week. –terry shropshire
