Cole was in Trenton, N.J., to counter an event promoter’s allegations that she failed to appear for an agreed upon show, yet had no problem collecting a $15,000 up-front fee. TMZ said the judge called Cole’s testimony “confused and at times nonsensical.” Later the judge said Cole, 28, was very hesitant to read certain documents while she was testifying and remarked that she “appears at times that she was not literate.”
Only when Cole decided to read documents that would help her case did the judge discern that Cole had adequate comprehension and reading skills. Yet, the fact that Cole provided confusing testimony and refused to read documents that she felt would incriminate her greatly irritated the judge. That, combined with the plaintiff’s testimony, was sufficient enough evidence from the judge’s perspective to rule on the promoter’s behalf and order Cole to fork over $160,000. –terry shropshire
