Tom Joyner, host of the nationally syndicated “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” in partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau, launched a national live broadcast tour to encourage the African American community to be counted in the 2010 Census. The tour will visit 14 cities from Tuesday, March 30, 2010, through Friday, April 16, 2010.
“I’m using my microphone and national audience to raise awareness for the 2010 Census specifically to the African American community,” says Joyner. “Since the last Census count our community has been disproportionately affected by hurricane displacement along the gulf coast and housing foreclosures across the country. My listeners need to know how important it is now more than ever that they respond to the Census so our community can get the dollars they need to support them, wherever they may be.”
Listeners can look forward to seeing Joyner and the morning show crew, who reach an audience of more than eight million in over 100 markets, broadcasting live from the “TJMS” tour bus in a different city each day for three weeks. There will be daily photos and videos uploaded to BlackAmericaWeb.com as well as regular updates to the Facebook and Twitter pages for the “Tom Joyner Morning Show” to raise as much awareness as possible about the importance of everyone in black America being counted accurately.
