Buying Furniture? Tips For First-Time Apartment Owners

1. I recommend the queen size bed for the first time space because when you upgrade to a larger home  it will come with a master suite, and you can put your old bedroom suite in your guest room, and get a king size bed.
2. Go with neutral colors — whites, browns, and blacks because you can blend them a little easier. Introduce accessories such as pillows, rugs and art work to add color.

3. With your first apartment it is best to get transitional pieces so that you can use them in your next home. Cube ottomans for example, can be used as a coffee table or additional seating if needed.

4. Modular pieces allow you to add on at later dates. If you move you can just add to it so that you’re not spending money to replace furniture.

5.  First timers should invest in clean line pieces with simple lines. If you keep the lines clean, classic and neutral it makes it easy to blend with other furniture.
