KFC’s New Artery Clogger Poses Threat To Blacks

KFC chicken sandwichAfrican Americans are far more likely to suffer from diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol levels and occurrences of stroke than caucasians. But flying in the face of that well-known and well-publicized fact, is KFC’s decision to launch a new sandwich called the “Double Down” on April 12.

The sandwich will consist of two thick, boneless white meat chicken filets, two slices of bacon, two melted slices of Monterey Jack cheese, and two slices of pepper jack cheese, topped with the Colonel’s sauce.

It also comes cooked to your liking — fried or grilled. Customers choosing the slightly healthier version will consume 460 calories, 23 grams of fat, and 1430 milligrams of sodium. KFC’s original recipe version contains 540 calories, 32 grams of fat, and 1380 milligrams of sodium.

The nutritional value of the Double Down sandwich is beyond disturbing. To say it’s an unfortunate decision on the part of KFC official is an understatement. Even more so it shows how little the Food and Drug Administration cares about the health and well being of the African American community.  –christian johnson
