Jill Scott Having Banner Year with Son, Movie, Tour, and Magazine

Jill Scott Having Banner Year with Son, Movie, Tour, and MagazineJill Scott is at present living her life in the “zone.” She’s achieved that untouchable plateau sportscasters reserve for describing an athlete who’s in an amazing stretch of elite performances.

First of all, Scott’s glowing these days like lights on Christmas Eve. She’s trimmed down and sculpted her physique to reveal eye-pleasing curves. She’s the lead character in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? where she exudes, so much honesty, vulnerability and rawness that you want to hug her and stomp her ex-husband [played by Richard T. Jones] into the pavement.

Moreover, her regal visage adorns the cover of Essence. Now, she’s headlining a coveted tour with the re-emerged soul singer Maxwell and she’s taking her son, one-year-old Jett Hamilton with her, to boot. Now might not be the right time for her longtime label, Hidden Beach Records to mess with the Philly-bred beauty with lawsuits and accusations.

“It’s 21 dates in the US, and I’m very excited. Most of them are sold out at this point,” she testified. “I’m taking my son. This is going to be interesting. I don’t know how this is going to work. I ask friends [about it]. I asked Mo’Nique, ‘How do you tour with a baby?’ Everyone has different advice. We’ll see how it goes.”

Audiences responded well to her believable portrayal of Sheila, the scorned ex-wife in Why Did I Get Married Too? who refused to descend to the level of her ex-husband’s uncouth theatrics.

“I always just thought that Sheila was sincere. And even in her hurt and quiet[ness] it’s genuine, and I had to make sure that she always stayed that way. She’s coming out of confusion and she’s gaining her new strength, but she’s still a sweet person at heart. I didn’t want to take that away from her, even in her strength.”

Co-star Tasha Smith — whose career is also on a sky-rocketing upward trajectory — couldn‘t help but cover Scott‘s sought after tour. “I’m excited for her tour, I gotta tell you. The depth of her voice and her singing and her writing … she just transfers all of that passion into her acting. It’s just beautiful. That tour is going to be the bomb. I can’t wait.”

You ain’t the only one, Tasha. — terry shropshire
