Maybe it pays to be a dim-witted political firebrand after all. According to reports, Sarah Palin has earned $12 million since stepping down as Alaska’s governor in July 2009. The Obamas made $5.5 million in 2009.
The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee was given an advance of $7 million for her book, Going Rogue, and she will receive $250,000 per episode for her show on the Learning Channel. She also charges $100,000 to deliver speeches that are mostly scribbled on her hand.
President Barack Obama and frst lady Michelle Obama earned most of their money from the residuals for the president’s books. The Obamas also donated $1.7 million to charities. The largest contributions were $50,000 to the United Negro College Fund and CARE. –amir shaw
