The Boston Celtics will have to face the Miami Heat without their emotional leader. The NBA decided to suspend Kevin Garnett for Game 2 of the Celtics first-round playoff series for hitting Heat player, Quentin Richardson, with an elbow.

Garnett and Richardson  exchanged words in the fourth quarter of Game 1 after Garnett moved Richardson with his forearm. Garnett hit Richardson in the head with his elbow and was ejected from the game.Along with the one-game suspension, Garnett was fined $25,000 by the NBA.

Although the league has taken measures to ensure that another brawl doesn’t occur, the playoffs have always been intense. Has suspending players who get into minor altercations made the NBA game soft? –a.r.
