Mariah Carey Stealing Songs Now? Pop ‘Diva’ Involved In Copyright Lawsuit

mariah careyMariah Carey has been named in a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Trent Farmer and DeMario Driver.

Farmer alleges that the song “My Love” featuring Carey and Terius Youngdell Nash, better known as The-Dream, was based on his composition, “Are You the One.” Farmer claims John Huffman IV of Real Content Media Group approached him about the song in May 2008.

Farmer claims that Huffman told him he “thought this was a great song,” and “it would be a great opportunity to have a platinum producer co-produce the track with [Farmer]” and his partner, DeMario Driver.

Huffman, who reportedly disliked the chorus, asked Farmer to e-mail the song to him without the chorus.

Huffman then played the track for Carey, The-Dream and executives at Island Def Jam.

After realizing his song had been used upon hearing Carey’s version, Farmer tried to settle with Huffman on the issue to no avail.
