What’s Important Now

What’s Important Now

So, here we go again
Trying to identify what’s important today
The money’s gone
We’ll cling to that loved one or the people
We call family and friends
They will let us know that we’re okay
And continue doing what we have to do
“Strive high” they’ll coach
“Move forward” they’ll bark
And even when we doubt ourselves
They’ll reminds us that we are smart

Funny isn’t it too,
How when we can run our credit cards to move about
We didn’t call that friend that we speak to now
We didn’t take the time to remain and take a bow

So as you’ve learned to stay ay home and eat
Knowing that eating out is especially now a treat
That spending 40, 50 and 80 dollars for a meal
Never really was a value added deal
No, now that we must watch our money each day
We treating ourselves with a degree of sacrifice
And we still feel okay

So here we go again, wanting to wonder
If we take a walk and read a book
There’s a good story about a great life
A great character, a great word
A great metaphor, a great message for us to know
A great journey, a great bit of information
A  historical fact that we should know
And how comprehension will us  grow

Yes, it’s here that we find ourselves
When money is no longer king

We can find value in family and art
And appreciate those things we once took for granted

To listen to a friend share kind words from day into night
To listen to young children play and listen to babies cry
To listen to old stories that grandmom’s and mama’s told
So we can remember them when times get thin

We’ll remember to meditate
Get on our knees and give thanks for what we have
And have had
And because we have our health and strength
One thing is sure
We are still fortunate
In these tough times we must endure

Pick up the phone, write a a note and understand
That it’s really time to touch somebody that’s special
to you
Let them know, just how dear they are
And how you believe they’re going to go far

Everyday we get older and hopefully
You learn a little thing or two
So remember who you’re walking through life with
For you never alone
And know that there is always a place to come home.

Peace.
