Just in time for Mother’s Day, gospel singer Regina Belle lent her time and heart to the cause of making life just a little easier for families with ailing children.
Together with the McDonald’s Corporation and TheBlogRollers, Belle gave mothers of children being cared for at the Ronald McDonald House in Atlanta a much-needed respite by treating them to a night of “girlie” pampering on May 6.
“We’ll be doing facials, you know the stuff we like to do,” the gracious singer said of the night’s events. “Nails, manicures, pedicures and just a chance to have dinner together. As girls we’re just going to have a pampering day where we just get together and talk about stuff and complain a bout stuff, and praise God about stuff so were just going to do all of that in this one day.”
The charitable event, called National Mom’s Night Out, was “the perfect complement” to the singer’s participation in McDonald’s Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour, which will benefit the Ronald McDonald House. She will headline the free tour with gospel artist J Moss.

“When I was asked to do the McDonald’s tour, it was funny because I didn’t know we would have anything to do with the McDonald House. So when I started talking to them about different things in mind that I wanted to do, I was approached about coming to Ronald McDonald House and actually making an appearance and making an impact of some sort with the children, as well as the families. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, because it was one where I was able to say, ‘God I thank you for allowing me to be on this side of the Earth and still have purpose in my life.’ To actually touch somebody and say, ‘I don’t neccessarliy know what you’re going through, but I can pray, and give a smile, hug, and I can give you some time.’ This was really important to me, so I’m excited and glad … [to] make an impact besides just singing on stage,” Belle says.
A mother of five, Belle was deeply moved to support a cause such as Ronald McDonald House charities. “I am here tonight to one, lend my support and to show a little love and give some moms a break and just to say, as a mom just on an every day basis, being a mom is a full-time job. And most of us have jobs and some of the moms are here staying at the house with the children so I know it’s a full-time job. … I’m blessed that my children aren’t here so I wanted to come and show my support and love, just put my arms around a couple of moms and some kids to say ‘I love you all and I’m praying for you,’ ” she says.
The brainchild of Maria Bailey, the National Mom’s Nite Out is the first nationally organized celebration of motherhood intended to bring together today’s moms, physically and virtually. The National Mom’s Nite Out will unite over 150 social media groups, companies, local playgroups, mommy bloggers and mother social networks in giving moms a well deserved night off. –gerald radford
