What inspired you to become a hip-hop artist?
When I first listened to ‘Ready to Die’ by Biggie Smalls and ‘Illmatic’ by Nas, I knew that I wanted to become a rapper because their lyrics were so complex and interesting that it made me want to follow in their footsteps. It made me want to experience something inspirational, yet multifaceted at the same time.
What can people expect from your album?
… It’s a collection of songs that my producer, Kwame, and I compiled. I would want people to get a feel of the conceptions of my lyrics like the audience did when [Eminem] first came out. I want them to feel the honesty of my songs because everything I say comes from the heart and soul because I’m a real man that deals with real things. Everything I say and do comes from the heart.
Red Café is on your album. What is it like to have someone that popular on your song, “Big Checks?”
Wow! It was great having Red Café on the album. Kwame and Red Café are good friends. Red Café had listened to my song, ‘Big Checks’ and instantly loved the song, so he called me and said that he wanted to partake in the song and I said, ‘Cool’ and the rest was history.
