In the world of celebrity, appearance is everything. For celebrity fashion stylist and designer Nick Esposito, dropping out of Grambling State University to pursue a career in fashion has paid off tremendously.

When Esposito is not working with clients to get them red carpet-ready, he’s pouring his energy into his clothing line SK8TRONIKX Streetwear, which is inspired by the skateboard culture.

From Swizz Beatz, Snoop Dogg, and Bow Wow this fashion guru has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry and doesn’t plan to stop until he becomes a household name.         –christian johnson

How did you get into the styling industry?

I got into the styling industry back in 2006 after moving to Los Angeles.  While working at H&M, I met celebrity fashion stylist April Roomet and interned under her for three weeks.  After that I set out in search of my own clients, and four years later here I am.

How do you merge being a stylist with being a designer?

I’ve always had the urge to design and styling just came natural[ly] to me. It wasn’t something that I had to learn or go to school for. It made sense for me to create a clothing brand, and because I am a stylist I also had a forum to showcase it to the world.

What advice would you give to someone interested in following in your footsteps?

Pay attention, make a lot of connections, never show that you are stressed, and do everything in your power to meet the needs of your client.

How did you come up with the concept for SK8TRONIKX?

I’ve been skating since I was ten years old, and one day I was out skating with a few of my friends in LA, and it just hit me. I also draw inspiration from the countries and cities I’ve traveled to. I just put all my energy and creativity into what is now SK8TRONIKX.

Which entertainers would you most like to see wearing your brand?

Chris Brown, Bow Wow, Trey Songz, Teyanna Taylor, Pharell, Kanye West, and Fat Joe

How do you plan on being successful in a market that is so saturated with clothing lines?

I’m not worried about competition at all. I’m just going to let the masses decide and I’m going to find my niche in the market and prevail.
