Lucas was portrayed by Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington in the blockbuster film American Gangster. According to media reports, Farrait was recorded on May 11 in the capital city of San Juan. She told the informant that she had kilos of cocaine for sale and that another contact had another additional 8 kilos to be unloaded, the Huffington Post reported.
When Farrait arranged a second meeting and tried to unload the 2 kilos to the undercover cop, agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency swept in and took Farrait into custody.
DEA agents had been tracking Lucas’ wife since Feb. 2009.
Farrait was portrayed in the movie American Gangster by Puerto Rican actress Lymari Nadal.
Farrait served five years in prison back in 1975 for her role in her husband’s international drug operation. Lucas was sentenced to 40 years in prison but was released a broken man in 1991. –terry shropshire
