Detroit Police Try to Cover Up the Killing of a 7-Year-Old Girl; Will Anyone Be Charged With Murder?

The Detroit Police Department attempted to protect the murderers of a 7-year-old girl by covering up the truth about a recent killing. On May 16, police raided the home of a black family who resided on the city’s east side. Initially, the police reported that Aiyana Stanley-Jones was shot in the neck by a policeman after her grandmother interfered with an officer who entered the home after a flash grenade was thrown.

But after an independent autopsy was conducted, it was discovered that the police officer shot Jones in her head as she slept. Jones’ grandmother, Mertilla Jones, refuted claims that she struggled with police officers and says that her granddaughter was shot before the police entered the home.

Now that it has been proven that the Detroit Police Department lied about their ruthless treatment towards a black family, the nation waits to see how this situation is handled. Will the perpetrators within the police department be charged with corruption and first degree murder, or will they be given a slap on their wrists like other officers who have murdered innocent citizens in the past? –a.r.
