Racist Jabs Keep Coming: Prominent GOPer Refers to Obama as 'Raghead'The jabs keep coming. A notoriously outspoken Republican South Carolina state senator has further demonstrated that your typical GOPer is a supremacist at heart — they even bash their own if they don’t look like them. During an interview on “Pub Politics,” a popular online political talk show in Columbia, Jake Knotts referred to President Obama and S.C. gubernatorial hopeful Nikki Haley, who is of Indian-American descent and was raised in the Sikh religion, as “ragheads.”

“We already got one raghead in the White House, we don’t need a raghead in the governor’s mansion,” he said during an appearance on a political talk show Thursday.

Knotts made the inflammatory comments after showing up unexpectedly to the webcast as they were discussing the gubernatorial race, according to Phil Bailey, one of the show’s hosts and the communications director for the South Carolina Senate Democratic Caucus.

Haley, now a practicing Methodist, is in a four-way Republican primary battle with Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer in the state.

President Obama — along with scores of credible researchers — has proven to the point of exhaustion that he’s not a “raghead,” as the obstinate senator puts it. He is a Christian. It’s just that simple … and even if he weren’t, the notion that “different” equals inferior or bad needs to put to bed, once and for all.

Many in the suspect party typically cry foul when called racists, but they continue to sanction — which is implied by inaction — high profile members of the party running off at the mouth in this manner. There have been publicized efforts by top Republican leaders to introduce diversity into the GOP, but at this rate, one has to wonder just how genuine they are. –gerald radford
