LeBron James Watch: Coach Tom Izzo Is In; Delonte West Is Definitely Out

altTom Izzo, the celebrated Michigan State head coach who sports a national championship, is pretty much set to be the Cleveland Cavaliers next head coach. Meanwhile, troubled guard Delonte West is definitely on the outs for more than his rumored dalliances with LeBron James’ mother, multiple media outlets report.

The much-courted Izzo, who is considered one of the NCAA’s premier minds, is prepared to leave the storied Spartans program if he receives a guarantee that James will stay in Cleveland. The Cavs new GM, Dan Gilbert, who is a Michigan State alum — has dangled a 5-year, $30 million contract in front of Izzo as an enticement to vacate his premises in East Lansing, Mich.

West may not be free to stay in Cleveland even if the Cavs wanted him, which they most certainly don‘t. They have made it known they are shopping the backup point guard along with the vastly underachieving starting guard Mo Williams around the league to access their market value prior to the greatest free agency in NBA history. Williams was thoroughly mishandled and outplayed by the opposing point guards in consecutive playoff series against the Chicago Bulls (Derrick Rose) and Boston Celtics (Rajon Rondo).

West has legal issues in addition to his alleged relationship with LBJ’s mother, Gloria, which James‘ attorney and family spokesman denied vehemently, according to TMZ. West faces multiple gun indictments in an upcoming trial for riding on a three-wheel motorcycle in Maryland while carrying a  handgun, a 357 Magnum and a Remington 870 in a guitar case. He’s also subject to a league suspension for an unspecified amount of time pending the legal outcome of his trial. terry shropshire
