5 Ways You Can Have It All

alt src=//rollingout.com/the-test-for-wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/have_it_all.jpgIn a world where things and information are so accessible to us and people live a life of excess, we want everything our heart desires. But from what media feeds us, we believe we can’t have everything. “If you’re married, you’ll be bored and tied down. If you want to be healthy, you can’t eat good food.”

Well, contrary to popular belief, you can have it all. If you’re ready, realistic and decisive, you can live the life you’ve always wanted to have. It takes balance and patience, but it’s very much possible. Here’s how:

BALANCE YOUR LIFE. We’re in a time and age where you have to know how to multitask. But with that in mind, life does need some sort of balance to be tolerable. If you’re a parent, you have to take some time out for yourself. If you work Monday through Friday, then you have to take some time for yourself on the weekends. Just like you make time to go out with your friends or schedule a business meeting, you have to schedule time to spend with yourself, significant other and the important people in your life. Just like there’s time for work, there’s time for play. Just schedule it. It isn’t selfish; it’s necessary.

BE READY. There’s no such thing as being too prepared. If you want to be a fashion designer, you should know about the top 20 designers in the industry, their stories, how to sketch, prepare a collection, etc. You can never be too ready. Success is when preparation meets opportunity. Are you ready for a once in a lifetime opportunity when it comes? Building awareness of your situation now and where you want to be is extremely necessary. Keep yourself in the know about what you want to do.

BE REALISTIC. Becoming a millionaire in less than 12 months while working for yourself is possible, but highly unlikely. Have a goal and then break it down into smaller goals. Deadlines are essential. If you don’t know where and when your journey is supposed to end, then you can easily become lost in it. If you have an annual goal, break it down monthly and then again weekly. Work towards it daily and it all adds up. Nothing worth having comes easily. So brace yourself, do a reality check and set an attainable goal.

BE DECISIVE. Nothing in life happens by mistake. Anything that has happened to you and that will happen to you is because of a decision you’ve made. If you don’t make decisions, you’ll become complacent and nothing will happen for you. Complacency is paralyzing. The only way to progress is to go up. Sometimes it can be scary to grow, but you have to make the decision to either stay down or to become the better version of yourself. There’s no success in straddling the fence. If you want to be a business owner, commit yourself to that decision. If you want to be a pilot, keep your focus on just that. Not one great person came across success by accident. They made a decision to be what they are and committed themselves to getting results.

BE PATIENT.  You know what they say: “Good things come to those who wait.” Success is a process worth waiting for. Always start with the end in mind.  If you plan properly and thoroughly execute, the end result will be worthwhile. We all have the thought of our dream and how great the end result will be. Most times – if it’s a worthwhile goal – it takes much hard work to get there. But keep in mind that you don’t have to be great when you start, but you have to start to be great. Once you get the ball rolling, you’re on your way.

Anyone can have whatever it is he or she wants. One just has to be willing to pay the price.
