It was on and poppin’ at Ventanas in the ATL on Friday night, as Trojan Magnum Condoms presented key players in the industry and the community with various awards highlighting their philanthropic efforts at the Magnum “Live Large” event.
The event celebrated the culmination of Magnum’s national campaign, which promoted the use of condoms to prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Part of the campaign included a rap contest, which featured over 2,000 participants. A local Atlanta native, RC, won the contest with his single “Put It On” and got the opportunity to perform at this past weekend’s “Birthday Bash,” one of the biggest concerts in the country, hosted by Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 radio station.
The star-studded event was hosted by none other than Atlanta’s own Ludacris and and attended by artists such as Trina, Day 26, Bryan J, Lance Gross, Hill Harper, Jermaine Dupree and Bryan-Michael Cox, who all looked like a million bucks. A gold carpet replaced the usual red carpet experience and the VIP party was renamed VRP or “very responsible person,” which went with the overall theme of the event.
The world famous Kid Capri held down the 1’s and 2’s with all the ill joints that kept the crowd moving throughout the night’s festivities.
Hill Harper, famous author, activist and actor, was the master of ceremonies for the night and introduced the recipients of the Live Large Awards, which included Ludacris, Karyon Fox, Kwanzaa Hall, producer Jermaine Dupree and songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox. Ludacris, who won the night’s highest honor, joked about being very happy to receive this award in particular because he was a strong supporter of the Magnum brand. –darryl yates
