First R. Kelly was accused of urinating on an underage girl. Now, the singer is being accused of p—— on his employees.
An ex-employee of R&B crooner R. Kelly filed a lawsuit against the singer, accusing him of failing to pay overtime as agreed to in his contract.
Anthony Navarro, a former employee, says the singer failed to sufficiently compensate him for all the overtime hours he put in during Kelly’s tour in 2007.
Filing papers in an Illinois court, Navarro states that he and fellow workers put in more than 80 hours a week to help with tour preparations. They were reportedly contracted to be paid time-and-a-half for the additional hours, but Navarro alleges he was only paid at the normal rate.
Navarro has also named Kelly’s production company, Bass Productions Ltd., in the lawsuit and has cited the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act and the Illinois Minimum Wage Law in his court filing. He is seeking undisclosed damages and court costs. – terry shropshire
