Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ Still Reigns Supreme on the Charts

Eminem's 'Recovery' Still Reigns Supreme on the ChartsWhen Eminem posted on Twitter that there would be no Relapse 2 album coming out, fans were thoroughly disappointed … until he announced that his new album would be named Recovery.

Recovery is a result of Eminem working with new producers and creating an album that he felt deserved a fresh new title. Even though this is his seventh LP, he indicates in the song “Talkin’ 2 Myself” that he would be fine with this being his fifth album:

“… It’s different them last two albums didn’t count
Encore I was on drugs, Relapse I was flushing em out
I’ve come up to make it up to you no more f—–g around
I’ve got something to prove to fans I feel like I let em down
So please accept my apology I finally feel like I’m back to normal …”

In this same song he mentions how he was envious of the attention that rappers Kanye West and Lil Wayne were getting, and even contemplated making diss songs about them. He’s glad he decided otherwise.

Regardless of the number of the project, this album is one of the most highly anticipated projects of the summer.

In less than two weeks the album is already certified platinum, and continues to hold the No. 1 spot on Billboard.

Dr. Dre was the executive producer for the album, but only has one production credit on the album for the song, “So Bad.” Boi-1da, Just Blaze, Mr. Porter, DJ Khalil and others are responsible for laying the canvas for the rest of Em’s songs.

Despite the turmoil that has surrounded the Detroit rapper in the past, he has managed to put together another great album. Everything happens for a reason, and without adversity there’s no recovery.  Em’s albums are telling his life story, and Recovery leaves his fans wondering which way his next album will lean.

So far it’s one for Relapse, and one for Recovery.  Which do you think is more likely, Relapse 2 or Recovery 2? –steve simpson
