Dallas Man Pleads Guilty to Threatening to Kill President Obama

A DallasDallas Man Pleads Guilty to Threatening to Kill President Obama man has just pleaded guilty to threatening to kill  President Barack Obama.

Brian Dean Miller, a 43-year-old northeast Dallas man, was accused of threatening to kill Obama online. Since taking office, the death threats against President Obama have increased 400 percent since President Bush was in office.

Miller, whose bail was denied, faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

According to reports from The Dallas Morning News, Miller posted a message on Craigslist on March 21, the very night Congress passed the health care bill.  In the message he wrote: “People, the time has come for revolution” and that “It is time for Obama to die. I am dedicating my life to the death of Obama and every employee of the federal government. As I promised in a previous post, if the health care reform bill passed I would become a terrorist. Today I became a terrorist.”

Miller will be sentenced later this year after pleading guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Stickney. Community members reported Miller to the Secret Service regarding the existence of the post and agents traced the message to his home.

In 2009, it was reported that President Obama receives approximately 30 death threats each day. This latest threat may be the most nefarious since an alleged plot by white supremacists in Tennessee in 2008. In that incident, a group threatened to rob a gun store, kill 88 black people, decapitate another 14 and then assassinate the president. –torrance stephens, ph.d.
