LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade Play the Game Like Black Men Should

LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade
Now they're super pimps instead of super slaves
The new reality of African Americans taking the stage today
Is that once we get contracts we are well on our way
These men are free agents and they've taken their shackles away.
These are their lives, their legacies and they know what to do.
But they didn't call their agents in a derogatory way
Didn't call them Benedict Arnold and then go on to play
Nor did they put self-effacing memorabilia on display
They simply want us to understand how demeaning the game can be
For a man, a manager or an owner to write a letter of attack
He's basically calling him a n***** and that's all he's meant to me
The penalty, the fine was way too small
And Mr. Stone should have gone for it all
For history will record that individuals in the sport
Tried to kick LeBron James in the face and that was their retort
To tar and feather him and throw him out of the back door
Tarnish his character and other players will wonder
Should they make a move or maybe go asunder.
Should they fear making decisions to benefit their families
Or shuffle with tails tucked between their legs asking “please?”

Hooray LeBron James, Hooray free agents of the day
Let LeBron be an example of how to think and play
He is a strong example of decision making at its best
So if you can't play pro ball, you can go to college and get a skill set
Or lay bricks, become a plumber but work to be great
Let people vie and compete to get you on their team
And never fall that indentured servitude scheme.
Because that man's words ring all to true
For him to say LeBron James was indebted to him
Doesn't mean he's missing the game
Nor does it mean he's crazy or insane
James honored that contract all the same.

So consider the immigration law and what it means to you and me.
Yeah we can pick their cotton, clean their toilets
Run up and down the court and dunk on a dime
And they'll shout hooray each time
But as soon as we take charge and act in our best interests
They reel and they wonder “What's mine?”

So thank you LeBron James
For not acting like a humble Negro
And doing it their way. –phil me
