A wise man once said that the truth shall set you free. But was he also referring to the truth of being gay in an increasingly homophobic society? Probably not. Maybe that’s why the cases of men trapped on the “down low” seem to be increasing exponentially.
Celebrity hairstylist Derek J from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” has observed this trend, and is a passionate believer in the idea that both men and women would sleep a lot better at night if they began to live by a simple creed: honesty is the best policy — especially as it pertains to homosexuality. The rising reality star expressed as much during a recent sit down with rolling out.
“I think that men and women would be a lot better off if they [would] just be themselves,” he shares. “If a man wants to be with another man, or if a woman wants to be with another woman, then they should just do that. All of this pretending because you think that’s what society wants from you needs to stop. Just be yourself, and do you. That’s what I’ve always done, and I’m happy with who I am and the decisions that I’ve made.”
