Get Ready, Get Set for the 2010 Bud Billiken Parade and Picnic!

altAn annual summer tradition in Chicago since 1929, the 81st annual Bud Billiken Parade will air live and in HD on the ABC affiliate channel 7, Saturday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


 


Co-hosts Cheryl Burton, Jim Rose and Bill Campbell will bring the colorful parade, featuring traditionally more than 1.5 million people, 320 floats, vehicles and marching units in procession, to your TV sets for those unable to join the festivities as they make their way down Martin Luther King Drive from 39th Street to Washington Park.alt



 


Celebrities like Tamela and David Mann from Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns,” entertainers and elected officials are scheduled to appear and participate in the parade.


 


Considered one of the largest African American parades in the country, Bud Billiken is recognized as a day of family, fun and celebration rain, sleet or shine. Admission is free and at the picnic, which is scheduled to end at 6 p.m., there will be local entertainment, food, music and giveaways.
