Fantasia Barrino’s representatives have confirmed media reports that the R&B singer overdosed on prescription medication and was taken to a North Carolina hospital.
The “American Idol” champ was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville at approximately 9 p.m Monday, Aug. 9. The rep says her condition was not life-threatening, says TMZ.com.
Speculation and innuendo about what prompted the unexpected overdose is raging wildly already.
CNN’s Nancy Grace went after Fantasia with a vengeance Monday evening about Barrino’s alleged adulterous affair with a married man that led to the dissolution of her boy toy’s marriage. The wife, now seeking a divorce, is suing Fantasia over the affair.
Barrino has claimed she is “not responsible” for the deterioration of the marriage. However, she fell far short of denying that the affair took place.
Moreover, as fans witnessed with her highly rated reality TV show, “Fantasia For Real,” Barrino seemed on verge of an emotional meltdown already stemming from her volatile familial situation.
