Tell rolling out about your movie, Politics of Love.
ìPolitics of Love is based on true events when a month before the 2008 U.S. Presidential election; a beautiful, local Obama volunteer coordinator (Bollywood Star, Mallika Sherawat) reluctantly falls for her Republican counterpart (Brian White). My character, Kyle Franklin is a conservative Republican who is among the first Black Republican characters in film to be represented in an inspirational manner to our community.
I have also written a book and is currently launching a youth empowerment initiative called “Black Carpenter.” Black Carpenter is a multi-platform youth development program that urges young people to ìbuild their future.î
This July, Iím hosting my first international charity event: The Helping Hands Celebrity Weekend. I’ll return as ‘Marcus” for TNT’s hit series “Men of a Certain Age” this Novemberî.
What inspired you to establish charitable foundations?
ìI was fortunate to be born into a family with strong values who gave me the courage to follow my dreams along with instilling in me a sense of purpose not defined by todayís street obsession with cars or cribs. Hence, Iíve always felt it was my duty to give back to societyî.
What advice do you have for those who want to become a part of the industry?
ìTake advantage of their education and pursue a college degree so they have a plan B. From professional sports to Wall Street, etc., my college degree is the most important tool I have ever given myself in building a successful futureî.
What makes you standout from other actors?
ìI donít compare myself to others and focus on my personal growth as a human being. My strength lies in my tenacity. There arenít too many people (in any profession) who ‘outwork’ me towards giving back to the communityî.
