The fact that Dr. Laura “N-word” Schlessinger is being allowed to keep her dignity intact after spewing a blizzard of racial epithets on her show — and give the impression that she is bowing out on her own terms — is reprehensible.
If anything, Schlessinger should have been yanked off the air like some wayward intern. The only thing we should have seen was a radio executive statement detailing her firing after she spit out the N-word like some tobacco-chewing baseball player.
She stated on CNN’s “Larry King Live” that she doesn’t plan to renew her contract and that she is leaving radio.
“I’m not retiring,” she told King. “I’m not quitting.”
Schlessinger’s announcement comes on the heels of last week’s on-air racial rant in which the N-word flowed freely and repeatedly from the hole in her head called her mouth.
Schlessinger told King Tuesday evening that she has decided “not to do radio anymore” so she can say the things she wants to say.
Yah, right. Dr. Laura. You want to be able to utter things like the word n—– without interruption and be able to bash racial minorities into oblivion. This sick old woman has flipped the script and acts like someone is stealing something from her deranged self, like the First Amendment.
“The reason is, I want to regain my First Amendment rights,” she said. “I want to be able to say what’s on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I’m sort of done with that.”
Schlessinger said she wants to devote more time to writing books.
If recent history has taught us anything — remember raisin-faced Don Imus? — it’s that Dr. Laura will rebound in a few months making more money on another forum. She probably will continue her crusade on the N-word while berating Obama all while imploring her audience to remember the Jewish Holocaust. Schlessinger is Jewish, which makes her rancid racism all the more despicable and indefensible. –terry shropshire
