Darryle Miller had high hopes of playing basketball and earning a degree from Georgetown University. Miller just 20 and the father of a 3-year-old daughter, was a star basketball player at Northwest High School in Detroit and showed enough promise and talent to receive a full college scholarship.
But on August 15., Miller lost his life over a pair of glasses. As Miller was leaving a Detroit nightclub, he was approached by an armed man who wanted his $2,400 Cartier glasses. Miller refused to give the man his glasses and walked away. The armed man shot Miller in the back and snatched the Cartier glasses from his face.
Detroit police have dealt with 30 such incidents where people were shot over expensive designer glasses.
