Hacker’s Billboard Promises to Teach Hacking Into Computers in 15 Minutes

An Atlanta area businessman created an uproar when he put up billboards promising to teach people to hack into computers.

Gregory Evans, CEO of LIGATT Security International in Norcross, Ga., hoisted billboards throughout the city that told passersby: “Learn how to become a computer hacker in 15 minutes.”  He was in the spotlight before for teaching how to guard against such illegal activity.

With that, it is a crime in Georgia to hack into another’s computer information without prior authorization.

“We’re not showing you how to hack into someone else’s information. When you take our course the only computer that you can hack into would be our personal Internet protocol address or yours,” Evans told CBS Atlanta.

Evans said they’re trying to teach people how to hack into their own computers so they can learn how to protect themselves. It’s something he said is very important considering a computer is hacked every six seconds.

“Aren’t you still giving people the knowledge to hack into someone else’s computer?” the CBS reporter asked Evans.

“You can walk into any Barnes & Noble and pick up a book on computer hacking. Period,” Evans shot back.

It will cost you about $75 to complete one of the hacker courses. As for the legality of it, The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Governor’s Office of Consumer Affairs said it’s perfectly legal to teach someone to hack into their own information. It becomes a crime when a person hacks into another person’s computer information. –terry shropshire
