Venus Williams advanced at the U.S. Open after defeating sixth-seeded Francesca Schavone in two sets, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Williams will now face Kim Clijsters in the semi-finals.

Because the dress kept rolling up and revealing her black undergarments, Williams had to pull her dress down after each point. Her consistent tugging caused the network to take count of her tugs. By the end of the match, she had tugged her dress 42 times.
