Why has Dr Dre’s Detox album been on the shelf for so long? How did Jay-Z climb to the summit of the music industry’s executive ranks? What are some of Mariah Carey’s most intimate secrets? Those questions are answered in the tell-all book, Guilty By Association, written by Damizza.
Damizza, who produced the hits “Still Believe” and “Crybaby,” has confirmed to AllHipHop.com that he is about to air out some of Mariah’s business — so much so that the singer sent out two “cease and desist” letters.
The book is set for an Oct. 19 release.
“It’s the truth,” Damizza says. “When it comes to the music industry I know how deep the rabbit hole goes … and I’m taking fans along for the ride. But there’s a lot more to my story than introducing Mariah to Eminem.”
The book also will describe how Damizza played a part in smoothing over Janet Jackson’s relationship with radio programmers following her infamous Super Bowl incident. All that effort, however, was for naught. All of Janet’s post-Super Bowl work — save her starring role in Why Did I Get Married? And Why Did I Get Married Too? — flopped on arrival. Jackson has reportedly sworn off recording music for the foreseeable future to concentrate on acting.
Still, there must be some serious dirt hidden in those pages for Mariah to get her panties in a bunch.
“I’m letting loose on how records are made, promoted, leaked, paid off … and [how] careers and lives [are] made and destroyed at the whims of ego and corporate corruption,” he says. “I was there.” –terry shropshire
