It’s been three years since the greatest rap group of all time released an album together. Since 2006, OutKast has been on a hiatus. During that period, André 3000 wrote the cartoon “Class of 3000” and was featured on several remixes. Big Boi continued to tour and recently released the critically acclaimed Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.
However, Jive Records refused to allow André to appear on Big Boi’s solo debut because it was released on Island/Def Jam. But the duo was still able to remind fans of their musical genius by releasing the “Lookin 4 Ya” remix.
Produced by Boi 1da and featuring Sleepy Brown, Boi and Dré trade verses about capturing the woman of their dreams. The track is reminiscent of the great work the duo created in the mid ‘90s and early ‘00s.
Big Boi recently spoke with rolling out about the prospect of a new OutKast album.
“Dre is working on a solo record and then there are plans to do an OutKast record after that,” Big Boi said. “In the meantime, I’m hooking up with Organized Noize and pulling music together for the OutKast album as well as working on my next solo record. Right now we’re working on getting Dré to finish his album and I’m helping him with whatever he needs me to do on his record.” –amir shaw
