Preparing the lovestruck women in the audience for another peek into his emotions with Passion, Pain & Pleasure, Songz thanked the audience for letting him into their lives through his music as soon as he hit the stage at his recent listening party.
Songz’ fourth LP brought mostly the pleasurable aspect to the giddy fans in attendance. The ballads on the album combined with Songz’s personality will make this continuation of Ready a sure Billboard contender. Below are a few tracks to listen out for when you get your copy.
“Love Faces” is the first track on the album, and is reminiscent of “Neighbor’s Know My Name,” which was a fan favorite when Ready debuted.
“Bottom’s Up” is the club hit of the album. Nicki Minaj adds the feminine sass and Songz adds his own party feeling, making this song the perfect single to get everyone ready for the Trey fever sure to ensue this week after the album drops.
The song that seemed to get the most enthusiastic response from the audience was “Can’t Be Friends.” Songz’s goal with the album was to make music full of situations that listeners could identify with. Based on the response from the crowd, he was successful with that endeavor. This song was sonically close to yet another Ready favorite, “Your Side of the Bed.”
Songz’s new CD sounds good, but here’s the thing: he’s already made it before. Every song has a feeling of déjà vu.
“I will never get used to seeing all these beautiful women here for me,” Songz said at the end of the night.
It seems like the women love him too, but is “more of the same” giving us what we want? For now, we’ll let the charts give the verdict.
