High School Football Player Dies After Throwing a Touchdown During a GameReggie Garrett had a promising academic and athletic career ahead of him. The star quarterback at West Orange-Stark was a senior who would have started college next fall.

However, Garrett’s life came to an end on the night of Sept. 17 during a football game. According to reports, Garrett collapsed after throwing his second touchdown against Jasper High School. Garrett suffered a seizure and was rushed to the emergency room. 


The game continued, but Garrett eventually died by the time it concluded. Hundreds of people who were at the game showed up at Memorial Hermann Baptist-Orange. Doctors will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. —a.r.
