Los Angeles Chapter Hosts Historic NBMBAA Conference to Assist African American Professionals

The 32nd NBMBAA annual Conference and Exposition opened at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Wednesday, Sept. 22. Hosted by the Los Angeles chapter of the National Black MBA Association, the much-lauded three-day forum will attract more than 12,000 business professionals and over 450 corporations to discuss the state of the industry, the economic climate, education, diversity, professional development and career advancement for seasoned professionals, students and industry experts. The NBMBAA, the nation’s largest professional African American conference, offers a comprehensive range of events and programs specifically designed to enrich the professional lives of its members and conference participants as well as expand their sphere of influence in the business arena.

Highlights of the 2010 NBMBAA Conference include a career fair, networking center, collegiate programs and an intensive case competition component involving students from university business schools around the nation. The conference has become widely know for supporting the educational objectives of business students and enhancing their ability to compete on a larger scale. The NBMBAA also works to impact business school curriculum design and academic objectives. “This is the 40th year of the NBMBAA which provides opportunities to develop business savvy and gives African Americans the resources to pursue academic and professional success,” explained Chris Schauble, master of ceremonies for the conference’s keynote luncheon and NBC news anchor for Channel 4 in Los Angeles.

Conference participants also have an opportunity to make charitable contributions to aspiring and established professionals by donating business attire items at the Unity Project to help support colleagues seeking employment and returning to the workforce. roz edward
